wandering stars
It's hard to believe that a year has almost gone by since we said goodbye to our little, Augustine, and just a few weeks ago we said goodbye to our beloved, Rufus. The holidays seem to not really be our time of year at all.
At this point in time last year, I never would have thought we'd be here living in Florida and having a completely different life. As the snow falls in Chicago and the temperatures creep into the 20s and even the single digits I am loving the 70 degree weather we are having here. Somehow listening to the people complaining about it getting into the 50s makes me laugh and feel even more grateful about what I do have.
It's strange to think of what our life would have been if Augustine was here, but I try not to let my mind wander into much detail about it. I am glad that her and Rufus are together somewhere in this universe of ours. I miss them both every day and try not to dwell on their absence, but moreso cherish the moments that they were here enriching my life.

An Ode To Rufus
Last Wednesday, November 24th, 2010, Amir and I lost one of our best friend's--Rufus Jones Alexander.
He lived a very adventurous life travelling cross country by car and plane several times, along with being a resident in Florida, San Francisco, Chicago and back again in Florida. The life he lived was one filled with much love and I am so grateful to have gotten to know him as well as I did. Some dogs are just that...dogs, but Rufus had something different about him. He had so much dignity and was one of the wisest souls I have had the pleasure of meeting. I felt like he was almost human.
He was around for 13 years and the years went by much too fast. When he left he did so with the same amount of dignity that he had while he was growing into the old man that he became.
I look around at the empty places in our house where he used to lay and still see him there. He helped turn me in to the mother that I became for both him and my other boy, Melvin
Here is a little photo history of his life <3

aspartame---Avoid It!!!
one thing that we need to make sure we cut out of our diets altogether is ASPARTAME!!! aspartame is an artificial sweetener approved by the fda, that never should have been. it is known and proven to cause neurological disorders among other things. here are a few videos with a little more information on it

photo magazine dreams
a few weeks back i decided to enter this photo contest with tag magazine, try and see if i could get enough votes to actually win and be put in their magazine. there's no money involved, just exposure and being able to see my photo printed in a photography magazine. to me that's worth more than money
anyway, if you like what you see, then check out tag's website and put a vote in for a friend :)

do yourself a favor
sometimes i think people forget how important massage therapy really is to both our physical body and our mental state alike. please do yourself a favor and go get one sometime soon. you just might remember how great they are and how much you really needed one. like i always say to my clients, " if you don't do it for yourself, most likely nobody else will." it's our body and we deserve to be free of pain :)
Some Benefits of Massage Therapy:
* Increases Flexibility
* Increases Circulation
* Increases Seratonin
* Reduces Depression
* Relaxes the muscles
* Tones weak muscles
* Promotes lymph circulation
* Stimulates digestion
* Increases dopamine levels
